Yat-Sen Scholarship for Young Scientist co-financed by Mr. Xu Jianshe, a member of Entrepreneurs Alumni Association of Zhongshan University, and our hospital, was formally started in June this year. This program aims to discover and cultivate young talents of our hospital, to enhance their academic level and position, and to make preparation for the cultivation of academic leading figures.
After the preliminary appraisal conducted by 5 experts from other hospitals, 12 people were selected. They then participated in a self-defending meeting held at Zhuhai Hall of Lingnan Building in the afternoon on May 7. Li Ping, Deputy Secretary, and Xu Anlong, Vice President served as the defending chairmen. After fierce competition, six young were selected for Yat-Sen Scholarship. They were Gong Chang, Huang Hui, Su Peiqiang, Lin Tianxin, Tang Yamei, and Pan Qiuhui.
The hospital distributed RMB 600,000, of which RMB 300,000 was donated by Mr. Xu Jianshe and another RMB 300,000 was funded by the hospital, to these six young scientists, with Each receiving RMB 100,000 as the research fund. The research will last for 2-3 years. The hospital also set up an instructive group composed of Li Mingtao, Shen Huiyong, Song Erwei, Peng Ying, Xi Liyan, Min Jun, Yao Herui, and Wu Yanfeng, who are responsible for the instruction and cultivation of these young scholars. Laboratory meetings will be held every two weeks after they handed in their proposals.
